Position Summary

The Account Executive position focuses on business-to-business (B2B) selling in the retail coffee/foodservice industry in order to grow Intelligentsia sales revenues. Account Executives manage existing customer relationships and generate incremental sales revenues with new independent hotel, independent grocery, and distribution partners in their assigned territory.  

Duties & Responsibilities

    • Generate incremental sales of wholesale coffee and coffee-related merchandise to existing customers, including retail coffee shops, cafes, and restaurants.
    • Provide sales support and account management to existing Intelligentsia customers, and transition new customers to existing customers.
    • Provide sales and administrative support to Sales Executives and Senior Account Executives as directed by management.
    • Input information regarding sales activities and sales pipeline in Intelligentsia's CRM system to ensure accountability and management awareness.
    • Produce sales pipeline reports and perform sales forecasting for assigned territory.
    • Work with Intelligentsia's Finance, Marketing, Operations, and other departments to transact business with existing customers.
    • Conduct sales prospecting activities within target segments (independent hotels, independent grocery, and distribution) as directed by management within assigned territory.
    • Qualify new business opportunities with existing customers.
    • Utilize the company's sales process, sales methodology, and CRM tools to conduct daily business activities.
    • Minimal (<20%) travel between locations within their assigned regional (multi-state) territory, using own vehicle. Some air travel required.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Job Requirements

    Education and/or Experience:

    Bachelor’s degree plus 2 years of B2B sales experience as an individual contributor, and/or specialty coffee industry experience working in a retail coffee shop, restaurant, or coffee roasting company required.

    • Prior demonstrated experience as an individual contributor with one or more B2B sales team(s) in an account management role, and/or retail coffee experience.
    • Strong oral/written communication and presentational skills.
    • Strong negotiation skills and an ability to create "win-win" outcomes.
    • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
    • Strong knowledge of MS Excel/Word.
    • Familiarity with social media tools, such as Facebook, Twitter, and online direct marketing a plus.
