Job description

The Doctors Company is currently seeking an Account Manager for our position located in Los Angeles, California.

As an Account Manager, under general supervision, you will be responsible for providing direct sales and service to members through The Doctors Company Insurance Services. In addition, as Account Manager, you will work as part of the Account Teams for larger accounts. Contacts are physician prospects, current policyholders, medical group administrators, agents, employees at all levels and members of the general public.

Skills & Responsibilities:

  • Direct sales, which includes standard accounts in select states, National Programs nationwide and select custom accounts as part of Account Teams, inclusive of placement with all of The Doctors Company’s subsidiaries.
  • Direct sales of commercial lines and group benefit insurance policies other than those of The Doctors Company.
  • Retention of existing policies both with The Doctors Company and written through other insurance companies.
  • Participation in the implementation of enterprise risk management services to group accounts.
  • Directly manage all current and future servicing needs associated with specific assigned book of business managed by The Doctors Company Insurance Services.
  • Directs prospects in application completion and evaluates applications for accurate and appropriate response before submitting to underwriting.
  • Interacts with other departments, when necessary, to ensure members receive timely and accurate service; resolves complaints.
  • Track prospecting activity. Provide reports to management detailing activities such as leads, hit ratio by line of coverage.
  • Manage activities of sub-brokers accessing The Doctors Company through The Doctors Company Insurance Services.
  • The ability to think independently and overall self-management with minimal oversight.
  • Excellent telephone, oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Proven skill to sell product effectively, being prepared for any sales situation that presents itself.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work with diverse personalities and individuals at all levels.
  • Ability to adapt to changes in the work environment.
  • Ability to use a personal computer to create letters, memos, reports and moderately complex spreadsheets.
  • Ability to write reports and business correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and customers.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and set variables.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Ability to travel when necessary.

Requirements:

  • Two (2) years in agency operations, insurance prospecting sales, and client service.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience required. Advanced insurance education is a plus.
  • Fire & Casualty license required, Life license a plus.
