Ameristar Casino Hotel Council Bluffs, which includes the largest riverboat in Iowa, was modeled after the historic riverboats that plied the waters of the Missouri River in the 1800s. Located in the greater Omaha metropolitan area, this property has received the prestigious Four Diamond designation from the American Automobile Association and, in 2004, was named "Property of the Year" by the Iowa Lodging Association. The property also features a 38,500 square-foot casino, five dining options, three bars, an entertainment venue and 8,000 square-feet of meeting and event space.

Overview

Create outstanding first and last impressions to all Guests by demonstrating “Big Hellos and Big Goodbye’s” following prescribed Ameristar Signature Sequence of Service standards. Greet and seat Guests; Coordinate proper seating rotation. Assist service personnel when appropriate.

NOTE: Bella’s hosts will also serve as expeditors. They will ensure the efficient organization of food being prepared for delivery to the Guest while partnering the Culinary team. Will check all food leaving the kitchen for quality and presentation standards. Will lead the passionate charge for excellence in food quality and service, every time.

Responsibilities

Maintain a physical presence at the front door of the restaurant at all time

Greet and seat Guests utilizing established Ameristar Sequence of Service guidelines; follow proper seating rotation and maintenance of seating chart

Recognize Elite and regular Guests by using their name and identifying special requests

Answer phone and coordinate reservations, special Guest requests, and messages

Respond to Guest requests or place Guest in contact with appropriate person for assistance

Demonstrate a complete knowledge of menus; items, pricing, ingredients, cooking methods, and service techniques

Must successfully complete a TiPS training class within 45 days

Gives information regarding daily specials, restaurants, marketing promotions, and shows

Communicate clearly using appropriate language and conduct when engaging Guests and Team Members

Interact with fellow Team Members in a cooperative manner

Assist servers and bussers when needed

Ensure all tables and dining area are immaculately clean and properly set

Conduct continuous restaurant maintenance as required or necessary

Responsible for all routine side-work; opening, during-service, closing functions and checklists, etc

Responsible for non-routine side-work as assigned by manager; deep cleaning, preventive maintenance, Steritech preparation, etc

Be familiar with the safe handling of cleaning product, equipment, and supplies

Ensure all established cost controls are followed

Attend all required training classes and meetings

Have a complete knowledge of Materials Safety Data Sheets location, cleaning products, equipment, PPE (personal protection equipment), and supplies

This is a uniformed position, which requires the Team Member be in compliance with uniformed appearance standards while on duty

Adhere to established department and property policies and procedures, including but not limited to: Standards of Conduct, attendance, appearance, cash handling, confidentiality, safety, and sanitation

Must maintain the strictest confidence of any and all confidential information disclosed by an Ameristar entity or by a Guest of Ameristar Casino

Adhere to all state gaming regulations and liquor laws

Abide by Health Department, Steritech, and all safety standards

Qualifications

High school diploma or certificate from Educational Institute

Strong organizational skills and excellent attention to detail

Must have excellent Guest service skills; outgoing personality and demonstrate friendliness and enthusiasm

Able to communicate effectively to Guests, Team Members, and leaders

Must be able to work at a fast pace with a sense of urgency

Able to work flexible hours: nights, weekends, and holidays

Ability to effectively work independently and as part of a team

Ability to follow all policies and procedures including but not limited to attendance, appearance, safety and security policies

Ability to accept direction and coaching from supervisory team, and adjust behaviors accordingly
