The Cashier according to specified policies and procedures, is responsible for receiving and posting payments to patient's account, totaling, and balancing payments. The Cashier also performs other general office and cashiering duties which include cashing checks for employees, Physicians, and patients, processing paperwork for deceased patients, processing returned checks, refunding money lost in vending machines and selling flower coupons to Mail Room. Other functions of the Cashier role include:
• Collect payments for inpatient, outpatient, and emergency accounts.
• Receive money collected from all Business Office Cashiers.
• Post payment to patient accounts; balance receipts and totals.
• Maintain logs relating to patient valuables, change fund, and petty cash fund.
The ideal Cashier candidate is detail-oriented, has great interpersonal and communication skills and can handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced work environment while providing excellent customer service to patients and their families, employees and Physicians.
