Position Purpose: This position is accountable for the cash flow through the Cafeteria. The incumbent’s primary function is to take in monies and make change for food items purchased by customers using the Cafeteria facility. Nature and Scope: The major challenges to this position include providing fast, accurate service for hundreds of customers during rush business hours, remembering non-programmed employee prices, as well as visitor prices for dozens of food items; maintaining cleanliness of tables in dining area while responsible for cash intake. This position is also challenged to deal diplomatically with customers and guests. Other related duties and overtime may be required. Maintains counter tops, serving area, doughnut/bread case, pasta/potato bar, and salad bar in a clean and sanitary manner. Refills cups as needed.

The incumbent has the authority to provide refunds to dissatisfied customers, deny food/beverage service to patients without authorized requisition and contact security personnel regarding disruptive behavior of customers.

Decisions referred to the Food Production Manager are pricing of new items, complaints regarding service or food, problems with machinery/equipment, personnel or those problems/circumstances that do not follow established guidelines.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES: 1. Adopts a philosophy consistent with the Standards of Conduct.

2. Math skills to make calculations for charging weighed food items, making correct change and completing daily cash box record for Accounting Department.

3. Ability to read, follow written and verbal instructions and write legibly.

4. Effective communication skills to meet and work with the public and fellow employees.

Minimum Qualifications: Requirements – Required and/or Preferred Education: Must have working-level knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing and speaking English. Computer / Typing: Must possess, or be able to obtain within 90 days, the computers skills necessary to complete online learning requirements for job-specific competencies, access online forms and policies, complete online benefits enrollment, etc.
