Job description

1.       General Purpose of the Job: Ensure all Federal, State, Regulatory and Investor requirements are met. This person will assist in the development, implementation and enforcement of company policies and procedures related to Federal and State compliance, branch and employee licensing, quality control and general operations of the company.

2.       Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Mortgage, Debt and Consumer Licensing in all 50 states, including onboarding and renewals in addition to MLO education and licensing
  • NMLS Call Reports (quarterly)
  • State reporting (monthly)
  • Examination Prep (State, Federal, Agency, Investor and/or Internal)
  • Annual Reports
  • Answer compliance policy and procedure questions from production staff and marketing department; Provide compliance advice and guidance on federal and state regulations including TILA, RESPA, ECOA, fair lending laws, anti-predatory lending laws, licensing, FCRA, privacy laws, Dodd-Frank and other consumer finance-related laws.
  • Responsible for gathering of mortgage loan documentation related to internal audit or external regulatory examination requests.
  • Responsible for the research of compliance and regulatory developments that affect compliance risk, such as new products and services, geographic expansion, acquisitions, mergers, and material changes in financial condition.
  • Administer training with company personnel that covers more focused topics for areas that deal with compliance issues in their daily job function.
  • Assists with the development, implementation and maintenance of company policies, procedures and job aids by researching and monitoring changes in regulatory requirements.
  • Maintains consumer complaints log, monitors external websites for complaints, facilitates internal investigations and research and assists in responding to consumer complaints.
  • Assume responsibility for special projects, gather data and prepare reports for management as needed.
  • Policy & Procedure creation, training, maintenance, and enforcement
  • Oversight and monitoring of company personnel to ensure compliance with all applicable federal and state regulations
  • Notification to employees of changes to policies and procedures; provide training if applicable
  • Monthly QC audits and reporting
  • Review marketing material to ensure it meets state and federal compliance requirements
  • Compliance maintenance of websites
  • Researching compliance questions for company

3.       Position Parameters:

  • At least 4 years of experience in mortgage compliance, licensing, and management of state regulations preferred. 
  • Strong technical understanding of mortgage industry and regulatory environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills. Able to deliver information positively and effectively.
  • Conflict resolution, negotiation, and problem solving skills.
  • High degree of comfort with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Bachelor's degree preferred (but not required).
