Job description

Respected DoD Contractor is bidding on a civilian contract for the IRS Facilities Management and Security Services, Security Policy Planning and Assessment Policy Office, Consolidated Armed Security Guard Services located in Washington, DC.

We are currently searching for an Armorer for Washington, DC.

Armorer is a guard and Key Personnel who holds a certification to maintain and repair firearms and performs administrative functions for the accountability and inventory of firearms and ammunition.

To be considered, qualified candidate must submit the following:

  • Resume clearly detailing experience and identifying by name and contract POC all Government contracts the candidate performed on
  • Diploma for highest education level earned
  • State Armed Guard Card
  • CPR Card
  • Copies of professional certificates earned within past 5 years earned applicable to the this job qualification
  • Copy of DD214 or proof of separation on good conditions from a Sworn Law Enforcement Agency, if either or both are applicable

The Armorer's duties include, but are not limited to:

Armorer will perform administrative functions such as inventory, accountability of firearms, ammunition, Firearms components and cleaning supplies. Armorer shall be required to meet the qualifications for Guard II standards in this contract for a productive guard.

Armorer shall be required to have certification as an armorer to perform the duties of an armorer on all firearm makes and models that would be used on this contract.

The Armorer will work 10 hour days and staff the Secured room designated as an Arms Room this will allow for shift overlap and time for accountability to be assured prior to shifts start and shift end. (1 hour on each end of an 8 hour shift)

The Arms Room shall be manned 24x7 365 by a certified Armorer.

The Armorer assigned to the Arms Room post shall remain in/at the Arms room and shall not leave this post unless properly relieved.

Relief Guards can provide break periods to the Armorer but shall only provide Arms Room security during that period and cannot perform Armorer duties.

The Armorer will ensure the completion of the following:

  • Firearms Safety, Storage, Accountability, and Maintenance
  • Firearms shall be carried in the appropriate approved issued holster
  • Firearms are never to be left unattended, even momentarily, unless properly secured in the on-site firearms storage container/safe/vault/etc.
  • Loading and unloading of firearms within IRS facilities will only take place in the designated Arms Room using a Clearing Barrel. The loading and unloading area must have issue and turn-in safety procedures clearly posted in plain view and immediately adjacent to the clearing barrel
  • All loading and unloading of firearms will be supervised by the on-duty guard
  • Armorer who must be qualified /certified on the type of weapon being cleared
  • Firearms and ammunition will be stored in a vault, safe, lockable metal storage cabinet with a minimum one-eight inch thick steel bar and heavy duty lock. However, unissued firearms and ammunition must be stored separately in separate storage containers or in separate lockable compartments of the same storage container. Individually issued firearms must be stored individually w/ ammunition and magazines in assigned gun lockbox to the officer.
  • Each security shift will maintain a list of all on-site weapons by serial number and conduct an inventory of all firearms and ammunition each shift to account for their status (issued, in the storage container/weapons vault, in maintenance, etc.) and document the inventory at the beginning of their respective shift. Any unaccounted for weapons/ammunition will be immediately reported to the Site COR and investigated. The Site COR will ensure that the Security Chief, and National COR are notified and an incident report to SAMC is made. If it is determined that the missing firearm / ammunition is stolen or otherwise involves, illegal activity FPS will be notified by the Site COR.
