POSITION:  CONTROLLER 

LOCATION:  Irving, Texas

The Haag Engineering Co. Controller is responsible for the Management of the accounting department providing information, primarily financial in nature, about all company activities that will assist management, its shareholders and other users in making educated economic decisions about the company's future.

The Controller will provide sound accounting leadership and direction while overseeing and improving accounting processes and procedures by performing the following duties personally or through subordinates.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  • Accounts Payable – Oversee the activities of the disbursement department, ensuring the accurate and timely processing of accounts payable, purchase orders, petty cash, employee expense reports, cash control, core payroll processing and total corporate payroll tax compliance. Oversees and may assist with work-up and coding of payables; entering of information into database after invoice approval; printing checks and associated accounts payable printouts; filing payables records.

  • Taxes – Responsible for figuring, filing and paying all sales tax, payroll tax, and state taxes on time and accurately. Assure corporate income tax compliance to assure the accurate and timely completion of all corporate income tax returns taking full advantage of all favorable tax codes.

  • General Ledger – Oversees General Ledger and oversees or prepares monthly journal entries, reviews general ledger and related financial statements for correctness and reasonableness; composes and types routine correspondence, as requested; data entry may include spreadsheets, letters, notes, and databases.

  • Unbilled Fees and Expenses – Oversee and manage balances in Work in Process/Unbilled Fees and Expenses including calculating and entering monthly adjustments. Maintains and oversees appropriate systems to insure the accuracy of balances.

  • Financial Statements - Assists with the preparation of financial statements, ledgers, reports and taxes to include monthly and quarterly sales tax reports and payments, missing credit card receipts, credit card reconciliation, personal expenses reconciliation.

  • Cash Management - Prepares daily cash report. Oversees bank reconciliations as designed. Ensures uploads positive pay reports to the bank.

  • Company Credit Cards – Oversees and manages the Company’s VISA and American Express cards including reconciliations, retention of receipts, balance reporting, daily reporting and integration of data within the Company’s financial and other operating systems.

  • Financial and Banking Audits – Oversee or assist with preparation of requested information for annual financial, banking, and insurance audits.

  • Accounting Department Backup - Primary back up for payroll and assists with preparation of payroll and other related reports and information.

  • Any other job related duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s Degree in accounting, finance, business or related subject, or equivalent experience required, with a minimum of five years related experience with progressive responsibilities. MBA, or master’s related field preferred. Previous supervisory experience required.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

 CPA or CMA required

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ WORK ENVIRONMENT: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Individuals may need to sit or stand as needed. May require walking primarily on a level surface for periodic periods throughout the day. Reaching above shoulder heights, below the waist or lifting as required to file documents or store materials throughout the work day. Proper lifting techniques required. May include lifting up to 25 pounds for files, computer printouts on occasion.

Primary environment: ambient room temperatures, lighting and traditional office equipment as found in an typical office environment.

Overnight travel may be required.
