Ideal Candidate

  • A thoughtful leader who is detail-oriented and possesses excellent organizational, communication & interpersonal skills. A leader who will contribute to Sky Zone’s efforts that support Team Member experience, engagement, productivity and retention.

Goal: You will be one of the few technical people in a largely non-technical company, where technology is becoming increasingly important.  ‘Smart Park’ attractions, tech, tracking, customer interaction, booking, etc. are the key to making each location increasingly enjoyable and more profitable (by as much as three to four times).  This is a fantastic opportunity to drive real, powerful change through technology and dramatically affect the bottom line of the company.

Sky Zone currently maintains an in-house, cloud-hosted data warehouse.  It’s already architected and is up and running.  This is a GREAT opportunity for someone who wants to learn about how it is constructed, and how to build highly performant / highly scalable systems using modern cloud and NoSQL environments.

The center of gravity of everything Sky Zone does is this data warehouse.  You will start off maintaining and expanding upon it, and this will eventually become yours to evolve & augment from a technical perspective.  You will build new data pipes in and out, integrate with third party offerings, and mine the data warehouse for new reports and new data views.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage all data stores needed to run worldwide park POS Systems, ‘Smart’ Attractions (wristband-based activity tracking, video and still frames with filters, etc.), Loyalty and smartphone apps.
  • Refine and execute on the technology roadmap, ensuring the delivery of planned solutions in a simplified and supportable environment.
  • Evaluate and identify appropriate vendors and technology platforms for delivering the company's services.
  • Stay ahead of the technology curve and collaborate with key decision makers to align business needs with tech initiatives.
  • Maintain and develop digital security practices: password management, encryption, firewalls, access policies, backups, virus protection, disaster recovery and mitigation protocols.
  • Define and communicate company values and standards for acquiring or developing systems, equipment, or software within the company.
  • Share knowledge, mentor, and educate the organization's management, staff, partners, customers, and stakeholders with regard to the company's technological vision, opportunities, and challenges.
  • Implements and forecasts enhancements to network and systems development methodology based on changes in development tools, industry best practices and systems development life cycles.

Qualifications

  • Expert with queries / schemas / data storage in both NoSQL (AWS MongoDB) and MySQL (MS-SQL) environments.
  • Familiarity with: AWS, Python, Redis, memcache, Nginx, Rest API’s, iOS and Android app development (Apple Developer / iTunes Connect + Google PLAY equivalents)
  • Data Stores and Analysis: MongoDB (essential), Cassandra (nice to have), MS-SQL (ideal for legacy platform issues), AWS RDS, ElasticSearch, Kibana

  • Encryption standards and communication
  • Languages: Python, unix shell scripting, C, C++, C#, or  Java
  • PCI Security protocols: You are familiar with best practices and ideally you’ve been through the certification process
  • “In the trenches” startup experience a plus.
  • Ten (10) plus years of increasing responsibility in managing one (1) or more major information processing functions.
  • Must have at least 3 years of experience working in an IT outsourced model
