Job Title: Facility Coding Director
Division: Direct
Department: Facility Coding and Audit Services
Reports to: VP, Facility Coding and Audit Operations
 
Summary:
GeBBS Healthcare Solutions is actively recruiting for a Facility Coding Director.  This is a full-time position and is anticipated to commence as soon as qualified applicants are identified.  Current AHIMA certifications required.  The Facility Coding Director position will be based from your home-based office, reporting to our VP of Coding and Audit Operations.  The Director of Coding oversees the onsite and remote processes and functions to facilitate high quality, cost effective delivery of coding services to the client.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the interviewing, hiring, training and education of the HIM coding staff. 
  • Lead all HIM projects related to coding.
  • Monitor productivity and accuracy of coding and QA staff across all clientele.
  • Assist in development of departmental policies and standard operating procedures.
  • In the absence of the Vice President of Coding, the Director of Coding has expanded responsibilities related to department functions and performs duties necessary to manage all functions.
  • Work on multiple client platforms including encoders and Electronic Health Records and experience managing multiple sites or health systems
  • Revise and update coding policies and procedures in collaboration with Vice President of Coding, as requested.
  • Maintains strict physician and patient confidentiality and follows state, federal and hospital guidelines for the release of information.
  • Support company Compliance Program by demonstrating adherence to all relevant compliance policies and procedures as evidenced by in-service attendance and daily practice; notifying management when there is a compliance concern or incident; demonstrating knowledge of HIPAA Privacy and Security Regulations as evidenced by appropriate handling of patient information; promoting confidentiality and using discretion when handling patient information.
  • Experience managing an international workforce

 
Minimum Qualifications and Requirements

  • RHIA, RHIT, or CCS certified, required.
  • Must have five 10+ years of coding management experience in an acute care facility and/or with a coding vendor.
  • Experience with 3M encoder, required.
  • Experience with multiple Electronic Health Records systems including but not limited to: EPIC, Meditech, HPF, preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written skills as well as intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to prioritize work to meet the needs of the client and assure performance of the coding team.
  • Experience supervising a large scale coding staff.
  • Must have inpatient, outpatient, and outpatient surgery coding knowledge in an acute care setting.
  • Extensive knowledge of HIM functions and processes.
