The American Red Cross Greater Houston Area Chapter has been providing transportation services to the Greater Houston area since World War II. As times have changed, the Red Cross has adapted and re-designed its transportation service to meet the needs of the community. We understand the necessity of transportation for people who are elderly; people with disabilities; and people who are chronically ill. We know that Red Cross Transportation Services are more than just a ride.

Red Cross Transportation Services is available Monday – Friday. Red Cross makes every effort to accommodate passenger requests for service and to accommodate passenger schedules. To better ensure space is available on the date/time of client transportation need.

We are currently seeking a Full Time Transporter/Driver, Community Services (Houston, TX) to work in our Houston, TX office. This position will work 7:00am to 4:00pm and sometimes later, Monday through Friday. Travel will also be involved up to 90% of the time, transporting clients throughout the area.

The Transporter/Driver, Community Services drives a vehicle to pick-up deliver and properly store correspondence, products and other lightweight materials in accordance with an assigned route or on and as needed basis. Performs additional transport or loading duties to support the Chapter.

SomeResponsibilities:

  • Drives vehicle to pick-up, deliver and properly store correspondence and products
  • Operates vehicle safely and within traffic laws. May require driving in inclement weather conditions
  • Follows an assigned route. Reads and interprets maps and directions
  • Passenger Transportation
  • Keeping accurate logs and paperwork
  • Providing quality customer service

Qualifications:

Education: High School or equivalent. Ability to become proficient with MS Office software, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.

Experience: Minimum 1 year of previous experience driving truck or van required.

Skills and Abilities: Must have valid driver's license and clean DMV record. Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communications skills. Ability to prioritize tasks; complete in a timely and accurate manner.
