My client is a global banking group that specializes in working in both commercial and consumer banking. They have a significant amount of assets under management and have strong performance in the market today as they continue to grow. They offer a number of financing, leasing, and advisory services to business and companies across many industries, and also provide direct and retail banking services for consumers. This firm is bolstering its compliance department and is looking to make a key hire for the leadership of the Financial Crimes Division.

 

This opportunity is a Head of Financial Crimes position that will be responsible for leading the company’s anti-money laundering (AML) program and overseeing a team for AML and Sanctions, including Know Your Customer (KYC), Suspicious Activity Monitoring and screening. The Head of Financial Crimes will be a regulatory point of contact for the group and all of its subsidiaries for AML/Sanctions. This individual will take a proactive approach to be up to date on regulatory changes, best practices and industry requirements.

 

The Head of Financial Crimes will report to the Chief Compliance Officer and will be responsible for:

  • Oversee performance of Financial Crimes team and make sure strategy and direction for team meet objectives
  • Work well with constituents, including regulatory bodies (Fed, OCC, etc.), to ensure full compliance
  • Monitoring all Financial Crimes policies and procedures, and ensure they are updated and enforce within an adequate timeline
  • Leading a national team of 35-40 people
  • Instituting and maintaining an effective Financial Crimes reporting and communication program, including training of existing and new employees to understand key issues
  • Participation in industry and frim committees for policy creation and ensure they are consistent with regulatory needs
  • Emphasizing service and quality for the support of the business
Requirements:
  • 15+ years of AML/BSA experience within financial services
  • Experience optimizing policy and procedure from an outline into a full-fledged process for a business
  • A proven leader who can build relationships, establishing trust and credibility with regulators and internal employees
  • Team player with a hands-on approach
  • Organized and result-driven
  • Motivational and capable of developing other talent
  • Integrity, vision, and excellent judgment
  • Excellent communication skills
