Security Engineer in Arlington, VA

Elite Technical is currently seeking a Mid-to-Sr level Security Engineer for our client supporting an Enterprise level DHS Contract in Arlington VA. The Security Engineer will provide complex engineering analysis and support for firewalls, routers, networks and operating systems. Perform and evaluate vulnerability scans within a multi-platform, large enterprise environment. Reacts to and initiate corrective action regarding security violations, attempts to gain unauthorized access, virus infections that may affect the network or other event affecting security.

Deliverables, expectations and responsibilities include
• Identifies security risks, threats and vulnerabilities of networks, systems, applications and new technology initiatives
• Develops tests and operates firewalls, intrusion detection systems, enterprise anti-virus systems and software deployment tools
• Provides technical support to assess security policies, standards and guidelines
• Enforces the information security configuration and maintains system for issuing, protecting, changing and revoking passwords
• Implements and enforces security policies and plans for data, software applications, hardware and telecommunications
• Enforcement of security directives, orders, standards, plans and procedures at server sites

Required Skills
• Possess an active DoD Secret, or higher, security clearance
• Able to pass DHS EOD suitability clearance
• Fifteen (15+) plus years of IT experience
- Alternative MS Degree + experience
• Five (5+) plus Current Security Engineer
• Current Security Engineering in the Federal Government space
• Hands-on Technical Support experience on the following:
- Parameter Security including Firewalls and Proxy Servers
- IP Security including; encryption, IPsec, PKI, VPNs
- Hardening O/S including; Windows and UNIX)
- Detection including IDS/IPS and Malware
- Networking Penetration and Vulnerability scanning
• Relevant Certs are a BIG PLUS (CISSP, CEH, Security+, ITIL etc..)
• Understanding of Federal Security Standards NIST, FISMA etc..)
