Systems Engineer
Position Description
The Systems Engineer is responsible for supporting the build out, maintenance, and troubleshooting a rapidly expanding infrastructure. He or she will work with a talented team of engineers that demonstrate the thorough technical competency required to deliver mission critical infrastructure that have with high prescribed levels of availability, performance and security. Qualified Systems Engineers will have a background in IT, computer systems engineering, or systems engineering and analysis. Your future duties and responsibilities
• Support the install, configure, and management of virtual machines, datastore creation and maintenance
• Test and troubleshoot migrated systems on virtualized architecture
• Diagnose problems network/VM problems, troubleshoot technology issues, using various resources, document lessons learned
• Develop, automate and implement operation best practices for the virtualization environment
• Follow policies and procedures for Change and Incident Management
• Document virtualization environment and keep documents updated per the configuration management plan
• Conduct performance testing of virtualized architecture
• Update and patch virtual machines within the enterprise
• Provide expertise and content to a number of key written deliverables Required qualifications to be successful in this role
• An interim Secret clearance is required to begin working onsite with our client, and a Secret clearance must be maintained throughout the project duration. Due to the nature of the government contract requirements and/or clearance requirements, US citizenship is required.
•At least five years of experience in the following:
•Proficient in systems tuning within a virtualized environment
•Proficient with data migrations strategies including: SnapMirror, Storage Area Network (SAN) replication, Powershell, Service Management Automation, and VEAM.
•Proven working experience in installing, configuring and troubleshooting UNIX /Linux based environments.
•Solid Cloud experience, preferably in Azure or AWS
•Experience with virtualization and containerization (e.g., VMware, Virtual Box)
•Experience with monitoring systems
•Experience with automation software (e.g., Puppet, cfengine, Chef)
•Solid scripting skills (e.g., shell scripts, Perl, Ruby, Python)
•Solid networking knowledge (OSI network layers, TCP/IP)
•At least five (5) years of progressive experience in medium-to-large data center migrations to IaaS cloud service provider (CSP) environments, maintaining industry standards, and providing recommendations for emerging technologies related to the data center.
•Candidate should carry certifications of VCP, MCSE, RHCE, and Cloud Architect (Azure and AWS preferred) At CGI, we're a team of builders.
