Forklift Operator / Warehouse Worker

Position Description:SUMMARY: Operates a forklift and associated equipment to load, unload and store customer product. Accountable for safe and efficient operation of equipment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Unload trucks, check in product, match purchase orders to sales orders and assist shipping and receiving. Read customer orders, work orders, shipping orders, or requisitions to determine items to be moved, gathered, or distributed and/or shipped. Move materials and items from receiving or storage areas to shipping or to other designated areas. Sort and place product on racks, shelves, or in bins according to predetermined sequence such as size, type, style, color, or product code. Fill requisitions, work orders, or requests for product and distribute items to shipping or to designated route driver storage area. Ensure warehouse is accessible and safe for company and customer traffic. Assemble customer orders from stock and place orders on pallets or shelves, or relocate orders to a holding area or shipping department. Mark materials with identifying information using appropriate method. Open bales, crates, and other containers. Maintain inventory control proper stock rotation by recording amounts of materials or items received or distributed via RF handheld device. Assist with physical inventory and cycle counting. May weigh and count items for distribution within warehouse to ensure conformance to company standards. May be assigned facilities maintenance duties as needed. May prepare parcels for mailing. May sweep, dust, and mop. Organize warehouse and work area for orderliness at all times. Wear the proper safety equipment. Complies with all government regulations for safety. Regular and satisfactory attendance and punctuality.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel (simple grasping and fine manipulation); lift and/or move objects or items weighing up to ten pounds; turn/twist neck and torso and use foot to operate foot pedals while driving forklift equipment, and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk on level surfaces; bend, stoop, squat or kneel; reach above and below shoulder level; lift and/or move objects weighing up to fifty pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
