GENERAL PURPOSE: Performs a variety of general cleaning tasks in accordance with the services provided throughout the Hospital by the Environmental Services Department; these tasks could include cleaning and disinfection of floors, walls, fixtures and equipment; this position may also provide general support tasks as directed by the Supervisor of Environmental Services, including the collection of trash, soiled linen, recycled materials and the movement/set-up of furniture. MAJOR JOB OBJECTIVES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Displays adequate knowledge of important hospital information as demonstrated by a rating of 95% or greater on the Hospital specific portion of the competency evaluation worksheet. Understands and follow Emergency Preparedness plan guidelines. Adheres to and work within, infection control guidelines at all times. Utilizes personal protective equipment in all circumstances, which requires its use. Handles and transport medical waste according to hospital and departmental policies. Routinely follows established procedures for use of the Bed Tracking System. Consistently practices proper use of the Kronos Time and Attendance System. Follows procedures for proper use of all chemical-dispensing systems Demonstrates ability to properly perform all types of patient room cleaning. Attends all required safety training programs and can describe his or her responsibilities related to general safety, department/service safety, and specific job-related hazards. Follow the hospital exposure control plans/bloodborne and airborne pathogens. Demonstrates respect and regard for the dignity of all patients, families, and fellow employees to ensure a professional, responsible, and courteous environment. Promotes effective working relations and work effectively as part of a department/unit team inter- and intradepartmentally to facilitate the department/unit's ability to meet its goals and objectives. Demonstrates the behaviors and actions that support Verity Health System Values. Assumes all other duties/responsibilities as assigned. REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS: Education/Certification: High School Diploma or equivalent ServSafe Certification preferred Work Experience: Prior housekeeping work experience in an acute Hospital setting preferred Knowledge / Skills / Abilities: Ability to read, write, and speak English
