Location: Washington DC

Position: Group Leader

We are seeking group leaders for multiple temporary to hire positions in North East DC.  These exciting opportunities can lead to full time permanent  careers with our client that will help these students achieve their individual goals.

Responsibilities:

  • Planning, assisting, and implementing the program for the class in accordance with the policies and philosophy of school
  • Facilitating project-based activities focused in areas of Science, Math, and Technology
  • Planning and implementing appropriate early childhood education experiences with a variety of materials in the field of Art, Music, Reading, Science, etc.
  • Providing an inspiring, positive, energetic, caring and safe environment for children that reinforces positive social skills and creates a healthy and fun learning environment
  • Developing and maintaining an attractive and engaging environment that encourages children’s independence and self-selection of activities
  • Knowledgeable of student outcomes and monthly goals for every student
  • Maintaining confidentiality of sensitive information
  • Participating in recommended training programs, conferences, courses, and other aspects of professional growth, maintaining current knowledge of early childhood practice
  • Conducting parent conferences on each child’s school adjustment, classroom behavior, and developmental progress
  • Maintaining and working with parents to promote understanding of their child’s growth and development through progress records of each child’s growth and development, prepare periodic reports, and review with Extended day Coordinator and parents
  • Communicating frequently with parents informally, with periodic notes and verbal communication as well as a Parent Letter at least monthly
  • Performing other duties as assigned with approval of Lead Teacher or Extended Day Coordinator
  • Facilitate instruction and enrichment activities on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays (3:30-6:45 pm) and Thursdays from 12:30-6:45 pm

Qualifications:

Knowledge

  • Knowledge of current child development and early childhood education theories and practices; 
  • Proven experience maintaining clear boundaries and setting age appropriate discipline standards for children using non-punitive measures
  • Fluent in Microsoft Office Suite and Internet

Qualifications

  • 60 or more credit hours from an accredited college or university OR
  • High school Diploma or General Education Certificate (GED) OR
  • A CDA (Child Development Associate) Credential
  • Minimum of one year of experience working in a regulated child care environment
