Job description

Responsible for the safe and efficient dispensing of methadone medication to patients in compliance with WAC, FDA, DEA regulations and clinic policies and procedures. Outpatient Only.

EXAMPLES OF WORK:

1. Accurately and efficiently dispenses daily doses of methadone/methadose medication.

2. Maintain current inventory of medications and medical supplies in secure environment.

3. Assessment of patient’s physical condition; reporting observations to supervisor either verbally or in writing.

4. Alert treatment staff of any observed changes in patient’s status.

5. Maintain accurate dispensing records.

6. Daily review of medical order book and recording of changes. Maintain current statistical records.

7. Accounts for all medication used during a dispensary shift. Ensures accuracy of records to avoid medication discrepancies and take corrective action as needed.

8. Explains the proper use of dispensed medication and its effects to clients.

9. Enforces dispensary policies and procedures.

10. Performs TB tests on staff.

11. May coordinate King County Jail dosing.

MINIMUM REQUIRED TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

1. A current license to practice as a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse in the State of Washington.

2. A degree or studies in social science or medical field; plus three years experience.
