Job description

We’re looking for an outstanding cook who can do it all—with a working knowledge of both a la carte and batch cooking techniques, as well as restaurant and rotational style menus. If this is you, we have a place on our all-star culinary team at Mather's - More Than a Café located in Norwood Park where every day we serve up quality meals for customers. Expectations are high, our food products are excellent quality, and atmosphere is professional and supportive. On top of good a la carte cooking skills, we are looking for a professional with knowledge of classic culinary preparation and methods, ability to follow recipes to expected outcome, and mastery of healthy cooking techniques and guidelines. Your responsibilities will include: to provide timely preparation of quality food for residents and others according to established recipes policies and procedures, using safe food handling principles; portion and plate presentations to ensure appeal. Required: at least 1-3 years a la carte previous cooking experience; basic knowledge and understanding of cooking techniques; ability to communicate with supervisors, coworkers, residents, and guests; ability to follow standardized recipes; ability to operate kitchen equipment and tools found within the hospitality industry; current sanitation certification. Preferred: formal culinary training. This is part position part time position Tues-Thur 4:00pm-8:00pm Fri 4:30pm-8:30pm.
