Research Alliance provides broad support to Celgene scientists, early discovery, and development teams to enable collaboration with over 1,000 research labs worldwide in order to advance our drug discovery, translational development, and corporate objectives. Research Alliance Development provides:Leadership in developing sustainable partnerships with key stakeholders Commitment to strengthen and safeguard Celgene’s IP portfolios by establishing critical relationships with Celgene’s Transactional & Intellectual Property teams and university technology transfer officesContract management support of Sponsored Research Agreements, Material Transfer Agreements, Service Agreements, and License AgreementsAssistance with procuring research funding and shipment of proprietary materialsAdministration of Research and Translational Development Publication Clearance Review with internal and external authors (up to Phase 2a)Support Business Development & Global Alliances in the management of Celgene’s growing strategic R&D collaboration portfolioResponsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following: In conjunction with research discovery and translational scientists, identify and develop academic investigators/institutions and consortia for targets, unique research tools-cells/animal models, therapeutic concepts deeper understanding in specific translational realms, early key opinion leader buy-in to projects, permit research evaluation of samples from human subjects, novel technologiesIn conjunction with Business Development, Global Alliance Management, and Research & Early Development, support corporate collaborations that enhance our platform with emerging technologies, provide new drugs for our development pipelines, and inform the organization about emerging best practices. In addition, work closely with Software Development to develop and maintain a Research Alliance intranet site where all academic and business to business activities can be trackedMonitor all research collaborations where Celgene proprietary molecules have been sent or where grants have been made. In addition, assist researchers in preparing relevant legal documents, seeking scientific input from appropriate project teams and oversight committees, monitoring the progress of research, and assist legal with IP and other contractual terms and conditions negotiations Work closely with medical affairs and other functions in the clinical and commercial organizations to ensure the appropriate flow of information from collaborationsAttend global hematology, oncology, and I&I congresses to effectively interact with internal partners and external collaboratorsWork with global medical teams to maintain a technology intelligence database on novel disease modelsDeliver quarterly reports to Sr. Research & Early Development leadership on the value and impact of academic research collaborationIn conjunction with project leadership and the intellectual property team, assist with patent prosecution and maintenance activities and evaluate patent licensing opportunities stemming from research agreements QualificationsPrerequisites:Bachelor’s degree in a relevant scientific discipline with a minimum of 8 years industry experience. Skills/Knowledge Required:Candidate must have supervising experience. Candidate must have the ability to work with minimal supervision, capable of applying new knowledge to business practices and demonstrate a thorough understanding of the science involved. Candidate should demonstrate motivation and independently increase skills and knowledge. Candidate should be customer service oriented and be able to recognize and appreciate cultural sensitivities across a global enterprise. Candidate should have a basic understanding of legal terminology and the ability to comprehend terms and conditions set forth under legal documents. Candidate should have a working knowledge of most corporate functions and understand operations across the pharmaceutical industry.
