JOB SUMMARY:

The Line Operator will report to the Team Coordinator/Manager, their daily activities should normally be coordinated through the Senior Operator.  He/She is responsible for the technical operations, packaging and quality of the products produced on their line.  A Line Operator should be knowledgeable in all procedures, packaging and quality needed to insure the proper, safe and efficient operation of their line.  A Line Operator should have an understanding of the extrusion and winding process, be knowledgeable of the roll quality (cosmetic) requirements and be able to fine tune the equipment in order to produce high quality products that meet our standards.  The Line Operator is also responsible for the proper and safe operation of the pelletizer and the quality of the repro he/she is producing.  The Line Operator is required to know and be able to perform all of the Production Assistants duties.  A Line Operator will also be responsible to perform various other duties that may be assigned by a Senior Operator, Team Coordinator/Manager or the Production Manager.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Including but not limited to:

1.         Set up of all equipment according to set up sheet.

2.         Verify and sign set up sheet.

3.         Check schedules and prepare for change overs.

4.         Troubleshooting their line.

5.         Fine tuning equipment (die adjustment, setting edge pins, winder adjustments, etc.)

6.         Line start up and shutdown.

7.         Assisting in the activities and training of the other team members.

8.         Monitor the line computers for any wrong or dangerous conditions.

9.         Monitor the line to insure it is clean and clean if needed.

10.       Pulling of rolls, proper labeling and packaging of those rolls.

11.       Completing all shift reports pertaining to their line.

12.       Pulling line QA tests and monitoring the results.

13.       Informing the Senior Operator of any problems concerning the quality of product.

14.       Checking roll widths every hour, after each change over or whenever a line is brought back into

             production.

15.       Monitor the pelletizer (i.e.  pressures, temperatures, quality of repro)

16.       Load scrap in grinder to maintain a safe level to prevent starve out.          

17.       Pull repro boxes when full, correctly label and store them.

18.       Do screen change.

19.       Know how to react to metal in system.

20.       Start up and shut down of pelletizer.

21.       General Housekeeping.

22.       Qualified in all duties of a Production Assistant.

  

Qualifications

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

1.         Basic understanding and usage of the English language both written and spoken.

2.         Basic skills in mathematics.

3.         Must be able to lift a minimum of 65 lbs.

4.         Must be able to get up and down off of a forklift.

5.         Must be able to climb stairs to mezzanine and silo platform.

6.         One year Production experience and/or demonstrated abilities to begin training for the Senior Operator level

            and/or exhibiting proficiency in the Line Operator job descriptions.

7.         Fully trained and proficient in all duties listed in this and previous level job descriptions.  Also internally

            certified through required programs where available.

TALENT REQUIREMENTS:

1.         Ability to train co-workers efficiently.

2.         Mechanical knowledge and/or experience

3.         Basic Computer skills

4.         Previous manufacturing experience.
