PharMerica Phoenix is recruiting an IV Pharmacy Technician to join our team.

The IV Pharmacy Technician will provide pharmaceutical services to long term care and institutionalized patients in a manner that maximizes quality and patient safety

Essential Functions:

  • IV mixing/compounding procedures, and processing patient information in computer.
  • Assists the Pharmacist in filling prescription items, as permitted by the State Board of Pharmacy. Types prescription information to produce labels.
  • Labels products appropriately, including cautionary or auxiliary labels.
  • Takes inventory, places orders, checks in drugs and supplies, stocks shelves and removes out-of-date items from the inventory.
  • Inputs patient data and medication orders into a computer system.
  • Prepares medications including emulsions, liquids, powders and ointments.
  • Packages medications for dispensing and for delivery.
  • Sanitizes IV room, equipment and hood.
  • Communicates with nursing center personnel and other customers in a please and professional manner.
  • Processes returned medications from the facility for credit or destruction.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Arizona Pharmacy Technician License required.
  • Minimum 1 year of IV compounding experience required in hospital or home infusion pharmacy setting. 
  • Minimum 1 year Pharmacy Technician experience
  • IV admixture experience strongly preferred
  • Must be available to work one week on first shift 6am - 3pm, one week on second shift 3pm - 11:30pm, and rotating weekends (usually every 3rd).
