Key Responsibilities:
The Senior Project Manager has full responsibility for interpreting, organizing, executing and coordinating engineering projects. Project Manager has responsibility of managing the project over all disciplines required for the project. Plans, develops, coordinates and directs large projects with complex features. Accepts full responsibility for a project from inception to the completion of construction.
Typical Duties:
- Responsible for designing complete systems (e.g. cooling/heating plant, primary and secondary air and water systems, controls) utilizing either applied equipment (e.g. DX, chilled water, water-cooled) or larger packaged systems (e.g. packaged VAV, air-cooled chiller).
- Calculates and understands impacting issues in Title 24 compliance.
- Performs and directs project design. This includes tasks such as performing engineering calculations using computer design software and referencing appropriate engineering procedures and design manuals.
- Performs and/or directs the preparation of project documents including specifications and bid documents. Also involves checking that items mentioned on plans appear in specifications and checking the layout and accuracy of the bid package.
- Performs and directs drawing reviews such as checking and marking up full plan sets to ensure the plans are a clear, concise, and thorough graphical representation of the intent of the design.
- Understands internal/external customers’ needs/expectations; seeks to improve customer service.
- Performs and directs external communications such as making telephone calls and preparing correspondence to clients, officials, and contractors.
- Prepares reports and studies.
- Performs and directs project documentation.
- Performs and directs shop drawings reviews for compliance with bid documents.
- Understands basic financial terms and concepts as they apply to projects.
- Works with others as a member of a project group.
- Directs and performs project budgeting by translating tasks into estimated hours.
- Responsible for meeting and tracking discipline budgets and tracking schedules.
- Works with supervisor to maintain good client relations.
- Assist in preparing project proposals by developing discipline scope and fee.
- Mentors Project Engineer/Designer/CAD level staff.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Related field.
- Professional Registration as a Mechanical Engineer in California desirable.
- 5-10 years of experience in Mechanical Design.
- Knowledge of CMC and related California Building Codes.
- Knowledge of green building practices and LEED Rating System.
- LEED AP Certification is desired.
- Proven ability to resolve complex design problems.
- Effective communication skills with a team-oriented attitude.
- Experience with AutoCAD and Revit is an advantage.
