As an RN in our community, you will have the opportunity to provide quality care to residents in an environment that promotes their rights, dignity, freedom of choice, and individuality.

In this role as Charge Nurse, you will be responsible for supervising and coordinating the activities of nursing personnel to provide resident care. Key to your role is serving as a resource and point person for communication, education, and clarification of policies, procedures, and standards relating to nursing practice and resident care.

Job responsibilities include:

  • Implement and direct professional nursing personnel in initiating resident care plans and provide guidance on methods necessary to promote compliance to standards of care.

  • Make regular rounds in resident care areas.

  • Act as a resource for assistance in planning care, performing various procedures, and managing emergency situations as they relate to resident welfare.

  • Responsibility for the administration of after-hour admissions and oversee and coordinate resident admissions.

  • Assess resident conditions to implement and develop care plans.  

  • Ensure adequate staffing coverage in resident care areas and reassign personnel to achieve a staffing balance in relation to resident acuity, as needed.

  • Provide care to residents by performing a variety of treatments, including changing dressing, cleansing and/or irrigating wounds and incisions, performing Foley Catherizations, irrigations, IV therapy and administering tube feedings, chest tubs and peritoneal dialysis; may perform personal resident care duties such as bathing, feeding, and assisting with ambulation. 

  • Assist with training and education of nursing staff.

  • Perform routine audits and provide data analysis and suggestions relative to the quality assurance process improvement. 

To be successful in this position requires:

  • Must be a graduate from an accredited school of nursing with an Associate's or Bachelor's Degree, or higher; 3+ years of previous related health care experience.

  • Current license to practice as a registered RN in Michigan; current CPR certification.

  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions in English, and communicate effectively with residents, physicians, visitors, and all facility personnel. 

  • Basic computer skills; experience with electronic charting a plus.

  • Critical thinking and decision making skills.

  • Ability to act calmly and effectively in emergency situations.

  • Ability to concentrate in performing detailed and technical resident care and management tasks.
