Houston healthcare client is seeking a Cath Lab- RN.
Responsibilities:
· Initiates nursing interventions and physician orders, recording all patient data and interventions accurately.
· Proficient at starting IVs and administering medications; understands dosage calculations, drug interactions, implications, precautions, and complications for all medications administered as a Cath lab RN.
· Assists the physician during diagnostic and therapeutic procedures to promote optimal patient outcomes.
· Monitors level of supplies and drugs in the department.
· Understands sterile technique and handles sterile items appropriately.
· Proficient at defibrillation, cardioversion, and emergency medication administration.
· Based on age-specific and patient-specific needs, displays good patient assessment skills and notifies nurse or physician as patient condition warrants.
· Exhibits strong knowledge base of cardiovascular diseases. Able to interpret lab values and correlate with diagnosis to determine potential implications and complications.
· Manages follow-up care for patient and communicates follow-up care plan to patient and patient’s family members as a Cath lab RN.
· Maintains patient confidentiality and complies with ethical, professional, and legal standards inherent in patient care and professional conduct.
· Communicates in an accurate, courteous, and professional manner. Greets everyone with a smile and positive attitude.
· Collaborates with other healthcare professionals.
· Admits, discharges, and transports patients as required.
· Serves as a resource for others nurses and clinical staff. Serves as a mentor for other nurses.
· Monitors performance by developing and participating in quality management activities.
Requirements:
· Education: Graduate of an accredited School of Professional Nursing.
· Experience: One or more years of experience as a Cath Lab RN.
· Licenses/Certification:
Current State license/permit to practice professional nursing.
Certified in Basic Life Support;
Additional certifications will be required based on discipline and/or nursing unit requirements.
