Easter Seals New York provides exceptional services to ensure that all people with disabilities or special needs and their families have equal opportunities to live, learn, work and play in their communities.

The Kessler Center is hiring full-time Residential Registered Nurses (RN) for the Home for Children with Disabilities Special Education School in Rochester, NY.

The Kessler Center serves children with significant cognitive disabilities who struggle with behavioral challenges. Most students at The Kessler Center are on the autism spectrum, many are functionally non-verbal. Candidates should have experience working with children with autism and be familiar with the use of visual communication systems and schedules. Training will be provided on positive behavioral supports, emergency physical interventions, and additional pertinent topics prior to working with the students.

The position is a full-time, 40 hour per week, 52 week per year position with benefits.

Essential Responsibilities:

· Maintaining ample medical and first aid supplies, adequate medications which are accurately labeled and securely stored, and a safe and orderly medication area.

· Providing assistance in scheduling all medical and dental appointments and ensure follow-through with families and follow-up treatment as ordered.

· Maintaining documentation and preparing reports as required by program policy. Conducting monthly audits of BM, HIP, Seizure and Medication Administration Record (MAR) documents.

· Obtaining needed medical, clinical, and dental records and treatment for children and staff as assigned.

· Participating and attending treatment team meeting and providing health information to team members.

· Providing direct care coverage as assigned

· Performing as a part of the Intake Team

· Attending team meetings and providing health-related information to team

· Being the Safety Liaison for the program

Requirements:

  • New York State RN license
  • BSN with 1+ years experience with children preferred
  • AS in Nursing may be acceptable with 3+ years experience with children
