REGISTERED NURSE

Located in Sacramento, California, Sierra Vista Hospital is a full-service mental health facility and a center of support for patients and their families. Since 1986, we have offered our clinical expertise to those suffering from emotional, behavioral and addiction problems. Our private, 171-bed facility is home to a clinical team comprised of licensed professionals committed to providing the highest quality care.

We are currently hiring a Registered Nurse. This position will prescribe, coordinate, and evaluate patient care through collaborative efforts with health team members in accordance with the nursing process and the standards of care and practices, including:

  • ASSESSMENT - such as: Complete a comprehensive nursing assessment and patient interview ; Delegates staff assignments based on assessment of patient needs, acuity and staff experience; Assesses the milieu and determines staffing needs for each shift; Demonstrates an ability to respond and provide direction with increased flexibility during crisis and emergency situations.

  • INTERVENTIONS - such as: Employ principles of communication, interviewing techniques, problem solving and crisis intervention when performing psychotherapeutic interventions and role models for staff; Demonstrates Interventions are based on knowledge of psychiatric and medical nursing procedures, as well as the plan of care; Accurately administers medication to patients in accordance with hospital policy and physician orders; Transcribe and carry out Patient Treatment Orders as prescribed and per policy and procedure.

  • TREATMENT PLANNING - such as: Collaborates in prioritizing, developing and updating (as needed) a plan of care with specific and measurable goals, objectives and interventions, defining actions unique to each patient’s needs; Collaborates in documenting the treatment plan, nursing interventions and the patient’s response to the intervention.


  • MILIEU - such as: Monitor unit activity and encourages patient participation, using activities of daily living in a goal directed way to foster patient self-care; Provide structure and maintain a therapeutic environment in collaboration with the patient and to other health-care providers; Conduct structured didactic groups with patients and / or families; Ensures Individualized treatment plans, special programs and general milieu programming are implemented.


  • TEACHING - such as: Provide education to patients and families based on their identified needs and limitations; Provide and document discharge instructions including food and drug interactions, diets and activities as appropriate; Evaluates and documents the effectiveness of all patient teaching.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education: Graduate from an accredited school of nursing required; Bachelor's Degree preferred.

  • Experience: Experience in a psychiatric health-care facility preferred.

  • Licensure: Currently licensed to practice by the CA State Board of Nursing. Valid driver's license preferred.

  • Additional Requirements:

  • Must pass a medication administration exam before administering medications.

  • CPR certification

  • Successful completion of the hospital’s designated behavioral and physical management training program including de-escalation and appropriate use of seclusion and restraint required prior to assisting in the procedures.

  • May be required to work overtime and flexible hours.
