Specification Representative - A / D

T&L Distributing has been dedicated to providing hard surface flooring solutions for over 40 years.  Our team forges the link between the vision of commercial designers and what manufacturers can create.  Founded in 1972, we have grown to 8 regional locations throughout Texas, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Arkansas.  This position is for the Houston Metro area.

The Specification Representative we are looking for will either have experience as a Commercial Interior Designer, or have 5 years of experience specifying commercial flooring or another architecturally specified product.  Our representatives are very busy in the field.  Days may have 5 to 10 stops, between dropping samples and appointments with clients.

• Locate projects with opportunities for our products and write them into the specifications
• Create Product and T&L brand awareness in A&D community and among End Users
• Find and cultivate new A&D firms
• Work with End Users and OEMs to create product standards
• Present product information at luncheons and other opportunities
• Maintain libraries and marketing materials in firms
• Track and protect specified projects through the process, convey information to contractor rep and management
• Manage expenses within budget provided.

Computer skills are very important.  Must be proficient with email, create letters, work with spreadsheets, PowerPoint, and contact management software. Social media skills are becoming increasingly useful.

Participate in industry conferences and showcases, e.g., IIDA, AIA, CoreNet, MetroCon.  Various other target market related conferences.

Be a student of the Commercial Design and Flooring Industry.  Increase knowledge of products, both in-house and competitive.  Learn about the various types of flooring installation. Continue to learn more about how subfloors and the construction envelope influence our products ultimate value.  Work to understand the design and construction business so you become a sought after resource.

Base plus commission will be offered to the right candidate as well as vehicle allowance, phone, and other expenses. We offer health insurance and 401K benefits
