About Marketing

Marketing develops and deploys customized marketing plans and campaigns designed to attract new customers, deepen engagement with existing customers, develop award winning products, and deliver an exceptional customer experience for our Cobranded credit card, Branded card, and deposits programs. Marketing cuts across multiple disciplines in digital, insights, creative, communications, direct mail, call center, and face to face activities to deliver a seamless multi-channel approach to meeting business goals and objectives.

Overall purpose of role:

Our Field Sales Associates will confidently interact with flight attendants and other key airline management contacts, actively educating flight attendants on the benefits our credit card products have to themselves, customers, airline organizations and BCUS. The primary business objective is to maximize flight attendant engagement and continuous performance improvements toward achieving account goals. Our successful Sales Associates are professional, dynamic and thrive in a fast paced environment; eager to interact day to day with flight attendants at assigned airline hub locations and continuously improve results and ensure compliance to create the optimal outcome.

Key Accountabilities and Skills required:

Key specific accountabilities:

o Frequent on the ground presence (75+%) at primary assigned hub location of Chicago (ORD) with providing additional field sales support for other regions (District of Columbia, St. Louis and Dallas); overall goal to increase flight attendant engagement in the program and meet account goals

o Subject Matter Expert on all things related to assigned partner(s) credit card offer

o Role model and mentor to flight attendants, demonstrating effective and compliant sales practices and techniques. Must adhere to all airport codes, Barclaycard sales and compliance standards as well as each partners’ model for sales effectiveness

o Consistently filter program feedback to In Flight Field Sales lead on program opportunities and barriers via set meetings and ad hoc communications

o Ensure crew rooms are stocked with applications and other collateral related to the card program at all times

o Drive awareness and participation in flight attendant communication portal sites. Encourage enrolment and push suggestions for improved content and other strategic enhancements

o Drive awareness and excitement around promotions, incentives and sweepstakes. Execute events that draw flight attendants to the crew rooms. Allow means for flight attendants to train and enrol in FA communication portal at all times

o Secret Shop on flights and report back results

o Field questions, comments and issues from flight attendants and assist in resolution. Monitor FA portal inquiries for your assigned region and respond within set SLA’s

o Partner with card advocates to focus on non-participants and low performers

o Ensure compliance to all set channel policies and procedures and work with Live Channel Governance manager to address any gaps

o Master the demographics and performance statistics in your region and put forth suggestions for improvement

o Make recommendations around In Airport and In Flight marketing placements and collateral that will support flight attendants and achievement of account goals

o Develop productive and strong relationships with key leaders/management in your hub locations

o Travel to other locations as requested

Stakeholder management and leadership:

Face of BCUS on the ground in assigned hub locations driving program engagement, excitement, performance and compliance. Owner of assigned market and responsible to drive strategic suggestions to enhance and improve program. Key contributor to the growth of the airline segment for BCUS.

Decision making and problem solving:

Gain understanding of flight attendant workplace challenges and customize solutions to that environment that drive increased program participation rates. This includes ensuring effectiveness of training content and delivery, monitoring performance, driving excitement around incentive programs to keep sales staff motivated, being the eyes and ears on the ground that push innovation and improvement to core team in Wilmington DE.

Risk and Control: All Barclays colleagues have to ensure that all activities and duties are carried out in full compliance with regulatory requirements, Enterprise Wide Risk Management Framework and internal Barclays Policies and Policy Standards

Your Skills and Qualifications will include

Basic Qualifications:

o 3+ years general sales experience required

o High School Diploma required

Preferred Qualifications:

o College Degree preferred

o Experience in face-to-face sales role - motivating others and driving performance

o Basic understanding of credit card and airline industries and their challenges

o Extreme attention to detail

o Excellent organizational skills

o Ability to multi-task and work well with others

o Strong Oral and Written communication skills – able to provide clear direction and feedback to achieve business objectives

o Enthusiastic and Outgoing personality

o Excellent communication skills

o Good planning and organizational skills

o Highly professional

o Polished sales skills to act as an influencer with partners and external clients as well as internal colleagues

o Ability to travel extensively, as required

o Ability to work non-traditional hours as driven by events and traffic in assigned crew rooms (early AM, evenings, occasional weekends)

o Proficient in Microsoft Office
