Job Description:

Our Professional Information Business Sales team is currently seeking a New Business Sales Associate to join Direct Sales. The  New Business Sales Associate (NBSA)  is responsible for driving new business of Dow Jones products by developing and executing targeted campaigns to contact prospects via telephone, email and social media. The NBSA is responsible for initiating sales activity with new-to-company prospects through lead research and qualification.  Using a consultative sales approach, the NBSA will identify and develop a good understanding of the clients’ business needs and deliver an initial value proposition of Dow Jones products to generate leads or new sales opportunities for the Direct Sales New Business Team. The NBSA is responsible for managing the complete sales cycle from start to finish and based on the complexity of the opportunity, the NBSA may engage outside sales specialists.  The NBSA must maintain accurate and appropriate client records within the Company’s CRM.  The NBSA will develop product subject matter expertise and align with the outside sales specialists for collaboration and best practices.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • MEET NEW BUSINESS TARGETS: Generate new streams of Dow Jones revenue through sales of products and services to "new to company" prospects which address their business needs
  • IDENTIFY PROSPECTS: Complete market analysis to identify good potential "new to company" target organizations, plus the specific roles and individuals to be prospected. The NBSA may be asked to do this both Inside and outside of his/her given sales territory
  • PROSPECT: Pro-actively contact the targets identified. The NBSA will need to quickly qualify genuine opportunities and move these to the next stage of the sales process, or quickly move on in cases where no worthwhile opportunity exists. The NBSA may be asked to do this both Inside and outside of his/her given sales territory
  • ANALYZE OPPORTUNITIES: Understand the business issues affecting targeted industry sectors and/or specific prospects, then ensure this knowledge is the foundation for our communications with prospects
  • PRODUCT KNOWLEDGE: Clearly express the value proposition and benefits of the Dow Jones products and solutions, and use this knowledge to ensure that solutions address clear business needs for the prospect
  • FORECAST: Manage Sales Forecast and Pipeline to ensure accurate recording of prospecting activity, conversion success, active sales opportunities at each stage of the sales process and forthcoming new business revenue
  • TRACK ACTIVITY AND SUCCESS:  A PROVEN SUCCESSFUL TRACK RECORD in a new business development role that requires cold calling
  • MANAGE PROSPECT/CLIENT INFORMATION: Keep accurate and clear records within the global CRM system to provide a solid deal history, showing clearly the steps taken to reach closure on new business deals

Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required:

  •         1+ years of sales experience in a role that involved extensive cold calling and or 1 + years of Relative Industry/sales experience.
  •         Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience/education. While a bachelor’s is preferred, in lieu, an Associate’s plus two years of work experience in an applicable field is acceptable.
  •         High level of initiative and self-motivation as well as the ability to work in a team environment.
  •         Proactive with a "can do" attitude and the ability to adapt in a fast changing environment.
  •         Ability to speak on the phone with ease and confidence. Must possess strong written and verbal communication skills. A pleasant and professional phone voice is essential.
  •         Computer literate. Prior CRM experience is preferred.
  •         Experience with heavy cold calling, ideally with Fortune 2000 and financial entities.
  •         Ability to respond with a sense of urgency in a fast paced, sales-driven culture.
  •         Strong work ethic and motivated by results.
  •         Basic knowledge of online research and news products is preferred but not necessary.
  •         Experience with Financial Markets or Public Relations is a plus.
