General Summary

The District Merchandising Specialist is responsible for marketing tools, meters, equipment, assembled products, and accessories by using a wide range of communication methods including direct sales calls, telephone contacts, e-mail, etc. This individual will also be responsible for executing merchandising and promotional objectives at the branch level. He/She will receive support from the Field Tool Specialist in the region, Product Management, and the Construction Systems & Solutions staff as needed.

Description of Duties and Responsibilities

  • Contact Customers to solicit orders within New York City Region
  • Drive counter sales within existing distribution through sales calls and branch marketing events
  • Ensure proper merchandising of Southwire products inside distributor counter areas
  • Develop relationships with key decision makers
  • Develop strategies for maintaining and developing accounts
  • Educating and field training end users on new products and labor saving solutions
  • Accountable for meeting business plans within district
  • Conduct sales seminars for customers to familiarize them with Southwire products
  • Ensure proper process of sales transactions and shipments to eliminate complaints, back orders, credit problems, and other situations leading to customer dissatisfaction
  • Responsible for expanding product breadth at current points of distribution
  • Provide competitive feedback to management and follow up on quotations and prospect lead

Qualifications and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in marketing, management, finance, or related field.
  • Must have exceptional verbal and written communication skills along with excellent interpersonal skills
  • The ability and flexibility to quickly get up to speed and take on large roles and responsibilities.
  • A passion for solution based sales with strong analytical skills
  • Must have exceptional organizational skills
  • Must demonstrate creative abilities in sales and marketing
  • Minimum of 50% travel required within surrounding region. Some overnight trips. Company vehicle is provided.
  • Must be willing to relocate to other territories as opportunities arise
