Nanometrics

501 to 1000 employees

Makers of precision electronics that need their goods to measure up know that Nanometrics works on a nano scale. The company provides thin-film metrology and inspection systems used by makers of precision electronic gear. These stand-alone, integrated, and tabletop measurement devices gauge the thickness and consistency of film materials used in making semiconductors, magnetic recording heads, and flat-panel displays. Top customers include Samsung Electronics (23% of sales in 2010), Intel (16% of sales), and Hynix Semiconductor (13% of sales). Nanometrics generates around two-thirds of its sales outside the US and has offices in China, Germany, Israel, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, Taiwan, and the UK.
