The ideal engineer for this position enjoys challenges and is good at problem solving as they write and invent new code that realizes advancements in mobile communications. This position will make contributions to our existing suite of products and learn the ins and outs of the various telecomm protocols. We know that explaining exactly how mobile messaging works to your friends will make you the life of the party! Well… maybe that’s a stretch, but if the thought of mastering technologies, such as SMPP, CDMA, GSM, SIP, DIAMETER, and Protocol Buffers excites you, then you’ll fit right in!
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Make enhancements and troubleshoot bugs in our messaging platforms and products
Participate in the entire Agile development process from planning & estimation, to the retrospectives
DESIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & ABILITIES:
Experience working with a high level programming language (C/C++ preferred)
Working knowledge of the Linux operating system
Experience with SQL, MySQL will be a plus
A strong desire to learn new technology
Eagerness to jump in and participate in all facets of the software development life cycle— even if it is a bit outside of your core area of current expertise
A strong analytical, problem solving and production diagnostic skills set
BONUS POINTS FOR TELECOMM EXPERIENCE:
Messaging protocols such as SS7, SMPP, and SIP
Telecommunication standards such as GSM, CDMA, UMTS, and LTE
EDUCATION & RELATED EXPERIENCE:
A BS in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related field
2+ years experience working with a high level programming language
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Occasionally may require being on-call to troubleshoot an issue
Occasionally may require working in excess of 40 hours / week to meet a deadline
Physical requirements:
Ability to sit at a desk for one or more hours at a time
Ability to operate computer and other equipment in the office
